WORK IN THE COMMUNITY

At Discovery Journal our main concern is our focus on improving mental health for as many people as we can. Everything we design and produce has that in mind, we understand that it's not easy to make the decision to do something and we also know its not always cost-effective to try all the tools and techniques available in the mental health sector in order to find what works for you. It can be frustrating at times. So we've partnered with local charities and non-profits to make sure our journals as readily available to those who need them.

Best was established in Swindon in 2020 with the ethos of supporting, developing, and guiding young people to be the best they can be through sport and mentoring.

In 2022 I was invited to see the facility and meet the team who are passionate about improving mental health using physical activity and one-to-one support. Martial arts has been a personal passion of mine for nearly a decade and helped me build my confidence, meet new friends and create a support network. I am very honoured to be able to contribute my skills through Discovery Journal to their purpose.

ABSOPOSITIVELY-YOU

In 2021 we've partnered with non-profit organization Absopositively-You to encourage the use of journalling across all charitable organizations. Journals are donated to those most in need across our home county of Wiltshire within the mental health community, with the aim of making journals accessible to everyone of all ages. If you want to contribute to this amazing cause you can donate an amount of your choosing by clicking the donate button below.

STEP SWINDON

STEP is a registered charity, providing a safe and supportive environment for children and young people aged 7 - 18, who are experiencing isolation and exclusion due to either their lack of social skills, personal circumstances, or poverty, living in Swindon or the wider community.
In 2020 we began a relationship with local children's charity STEP. Our Teen edition journal was created through this close relationship and we worked together to create a journal based on the needs of the younger generation. We focused on areas of a young life that needed more exploration such as screen time, social media, and peer interactions.

INNERFLAME

Inner Flame is a Wiltshire-based charity that offers free courses to develop confidence, self-worth, life skills, and employability in 16-25s who are at a disadvantage.

Their programmes are based on experiential learning; challenging the young people and inspiring them to grab life and run with it. At Inner Flame, they work with the individual.  Many young people who come through our doors have low self-esteem and feel their lives have little value. They show them that they can achieve and help them start their journey.

BESPOKE WORK

We are constantly developing and producing new journals and new tools for all areas of mental health.

We understand that it's not "one size fits all" when it comes to mental health and focus' need to shift to make sure each individual is getting benefit from our products.

We will produce bespoke journals for workplaces, charities, and organisations based on the needs for those they care for and guide. This way we make sure everyone gets the attention and support they need at every time of the day.

Journalling is personal, something you work on in your own space and at your own pace. To be able to have something working for you, ready and waiting to relieve some of that confusion and tension in your own home can be a huge relief.
